The role of Disability Services (DS) is to coordinate services and accommodations for students with disabilities. In doing so, we review disability documentation, meet with students to determine appropriate accommodations and work with other areas on campus to implement the accommodations. We also meet with prospective students with disabilities as they visit BSU.
Disability Services is currently assisting a record number of students with disabilities, with over 1,000 students registered this year. We want to continue our long-standing tradition of accessibility and remain a university that is committed to accommodating students with all kinds of disabilities.
The DS office is also striving to support students with disabilities with their employment goals after graduation. Our partnerships with the Career Center and several state and local internship programs provide opportunities for students to gain skills for the job market and defy the national under and unemployment rates for people with disabilities.
Donations to our fund on One Ball State Day will allow DS to continue retaining students with disabilities at a high level and help them graduate at the same rates as their non-disabled peers. We also will use the contributions to further the employment goals of BSU students with disabilities.
