The Geology General Foundation Account supports the activities of the Department of Geological Sciences beyond those covered by the operating budget. This includes costs such as student and faculty research, student field work costs, support for student field trips, and travel to regional, national, and international meetings to present the results of their research to the broader geoscience community. Over the past year, this account provided field support to graduate students working in Idaho, travel to laboratories away from Ball State to use specialized equipment, paid for a variety of laboratory analyses for student research and supplemented field trip expenses including a trip to Nepal to study ground-water contamination in the Himalayas. The generous support of our alumni has made the funding of these efforts possible and up until now, sustainable. We are growing and the increasing number of majors and graduate students will put pressures on the Geology General Foundation Account that may limit the Department’s level of support in the future. In order that we may continue the tradition of student support for research and field work, please consider donating to the Geology General Foundation Account.
