Spectrum

Since 1974, Spectrum has served as Ball State University’s student organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, queer, and questioning individuals and their allies. Spectrum provides social support to create comfortable, confidential, and an accepting atmosphere for its members. Everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression, is welcome.

Spectrum is highly sought-after for peer and community education. We provide numerous speaker panels to classrooms and academic venues, serve as a liaison for marginalized students, and actively fight for equity. We raise hundreds of dollars each semester for non-profits and create weekly interactive programs about culture, history, current events, and community.

It is not uncommon for Spectrum members to feel deep community within the organization. For some, the acceptance here serves as the nurturing and supportive community, friend group, school, club, and family they do not have other places. It is that much more important that the organization exists and thrives.

How You Can Help:

Your gifts provide funds for the welfare, support, and advancement of the Spectrum program. Awarded monies help students who may not have the means to fully participate on campus. Previously gifted funds have aided Spectrum members to purchase textbooks, lavender graduation cords, leadership conference registration, supplies for clinicals, and many more invaluable stepping-stones to a college degree.
