Ball State PBS
SUPPORT THE NEXT GENERATION OF PUBLIC MEDIA LEADERS!

Through the Public Media Accelerator (PMX) program, highly motivated students are given the opportunity to work at IPR and Ball State PBS while exploring potential careers in the dynamic world of public media. From audio/video production to marketing, community engagement, and news reporting, we offer a range of positions ensuring that students gain hands-on industry experience and contribute to the services we provide the community.

The PMX program features:

  • paid work in a professional public media environment
  • personal workspace in the PMX Innovation Lab
  • a dedicated academic professional who will make sure the student’s experience aligns with Ball State Public Media’s goal to create a high-impact learning practice
  • ongoing career mentoring
  • opportunities to participate in Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations (IPBS) webinars and other public media learning opportunities
  • networking opportunities in the industry

Our focus is on creating a high-impact learning environment where academic professionals are dedicated to shaping the next generation of media professionals. Each student’s journey is carefully guided to align with our mission: connecting people with educational experiences and trusted stories.

"I joined Ball State Public Media's PMX Program because I grew up watching WIPB and thought it would be cool to work at the station I used to watch. I also thought it would be a great opportunity to improve my video skills." — Jack Rigenberg, Freshman Video Fellow

"The PMX program has given me the chance to build on my graphic design and social media skills. Well-rounded opportunities like these seem very few and far between, and getting to work in the Public Media sector has opened up networking channels and given me experience in a new area." — Katie Bilka, Senior Graphic Design Fellow

Ball State PBS stands as a beacon in East Central Indiana, offering a diverse array of award-winning documentaries, quality children’s programs, sweeping dramas, local content, how-to shows, and community events. We take pride in enriching the lives of our viewers with engaging, informative, and entertaining content.
