Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry

Support the Pioneering Department of Immersive Learning at Ball State University, the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry!

In 2000, Virginia B. Ball-- philanthropist and active supporter of education, the environment, the arts, and the humanities-- founded a unique educational center at Ball State University. Established as an intense experiment in student driven, project based learning, the Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry (VBC) grew over its first twenty years into an international model for academic innovation, planting the seeds for what has become Ball State’s signature brand of high-impact experiences: Immersive Learning.

In August of 2023 the Virginia Ball Center integrated into the University's Honors College. This change has given the VBC increased visibility, and allowed it to contribute more fully to the overall campus experience through increased staffing and administrative support. The VBC will be more accessible to all undergraduates on campus.

During its 23-year history, VBC sponsored projects have been recognized nationally and internationally, garnering eight Emmy Awards, 10 international Aurora Awards, and a host of other accolades. Many of these VBC alumni can be found working in the arts, in film and television, the non-profit sector, creating leading small businesses and working with industry giants.

Your generous support to the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry through your One Ball State Day gift will go toward underwriting the unique VBC opportunities found nowhere else on our campus: extensive travel, collaborative mentorship and with the best faculty and industry leaders, and significant time to devote to deep, creative work on some of society’s biggest questions.

As we look forward to more life-changing experiences at the Center, your gift of support will mean the world to students who are ready to take on the world!
