The Department of Applied Business Studies, created in the Fall of 2020, offers undergraduate degree programs in Fashion Industry Studies, Hospitality Innovation and Leadership, and Property Management. Our student-centered programs focus on skills needed for success in today's industries. Students experience applied, practical, and immersive activities with industry professionals while engaging in high levels of community involvement.
For One Ball State Day 2024, we are featuring a few of our students to share what makes our programs unique, impactful, and promising for their future endeavors and how you can help make that happen!
Your donation to the Fashion Industry Studies Program will support student travel expenses. Our program is proud to offer an immersive experience from start to finish! With that comes field trip experiences that can be costly to students. Donor funds will support those costs, making them more attainable for all our students.
"I love this major because it's a close-knit community of creative and business-savvy students working towards a place in the fashion industry. I chose Ball State because I loved the beautiful campus and small class sizes. In the future, I plan to work in visual merchandising or trend forecasting."
– Clare Sexton, Fashion Merchandising Major
Your donation to the Hospitality Innovation and Leadership Program will support student travel expenses. Whether it is field trips, shadowing experiences, or conferences, these funds will expand the program's ability to take our students to various opportunities outside of the classroom to enrich their experience.
"I am happy I chose the hospitality program and am looking forward to the next two years and graduating! I want to work at a resort because I enjoy doing a little bit of everything. At Ball State, I've had the opportunity to learn about all the different aspects of the hospitality industry hands-on."
– Mary Mantle, Hospitality Innovation and Leadership Major
Your donation to the Property Management Program will support the costs of our students' professional credentials, materials, and exams. Graduates of the program can leave with their bachelor's degree and professional credentials that are significant to industry success.
"This Program fully prepares you to become a successful professional. The opportunities Ball State provides to network with experts in the industry are endless. This program has allowed me to challenge myself to achieve greatness."
– Lauren Reed, Property Management Major
