Our sincere thanks to those who gave to the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology on One Ball State Day 2023! Our goal this year is to double our number of donations and total amount given (we had 32 gifts last year at $1,750 total; this is almost double our amount of gifts received last year!!). Current students should not feel obligated to give. These funding goals are to help our department serve you!
One Ball State Day is a day for us to unite as alumni, friends, and supporters to show the world that we Cardinals fly together. Follow our social media to stay tuned on updates throughout the giving day.
Follow our progress! We've got some awesome events planned for OBSD that you don't want to miss!
This year our specific goals are:
In Dr. Brown’s honor, the Dr. Michael P. Brown Student Needs Fund continues to assist students in their educational pursuits, particularly when they need assistance for textbooks, tuition, and grad school/law school application fees.
We have also established some new goals for 2024! Specifically, we hope to establish a student travel fund to assist CJC majors in traveling to our national and regional academic conferences to present their research. Many of our students engage with our faculty to conduct research and we would love to assist students in traveling to showcase their research.
Additionally, we hope to use funds to invite guest speakers and hold additional educational events to take learning beyond the classroom. Lastly, many of our hard-working students qualify for membership to Alpha Phi Sigma, the only national Criminal Justice honor society, but membership fees can present a barrier. We hope to use donations to assist in off-setting the cost of students to reduce the financial burden of engaging with this excellent career-building organization.
