Ball State Learning Center - One Ball State Day 2023

What is the Learning Center?

The Learning Center is part of University College, which offers student-centered programs and services that enhance students’ success. The mission of the Learning Center is to enhance the academic success of Ball State University students by providing free peer tutoring (appointment-based and drop-in), Supplemental Instruction, and test proctoring accommodations for students with disabilities. In addition, the Learning Center serves as a scholarly pre-professional experience for undergraduate and graduate student employees.

Our 2023 One Ball State Day fundraising goals:

Our goal for One Ball State Day this year is to raise at least $1,500 for our Learning Center. These donations provide training and professional development opportunities, including the newly-created MAC Peer Academic Success Conference, for the Learning Center student staff, including tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and graduate assistants.

Your gift will help tutors like Lizzie and Eli!

Here's what students are saying about their experiences with the Learning Center:

“This was my first tutoring appointment and I wanted to check it out. It was a very nice experience and I will be back again!”

“Thanks Learning Center. I’ve been coming here since freshman year.”

“I have worked with Katelyn several times and really understand the way she is able to reinforce the content that we are learning in class. Katelyn is knowledgeable on the subject and has a variety of ways to explain the same material which I find very helpful. I consistently look for appointments she has available that work in my schedule.”

“I felt comfortable and my questions were answered very in-depth. Tutor made me feel so welcome and very helpful."

“Emily was incredibly helpful this semester with chemistry. She is very knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help her students. She will make an excellent teacher someday.”

"I really loved having Juila as my SI leader!  She was always super helpful, positive, & an all-around amazing person to be around!"

“Shelby has been the best SI leader I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She was so encouraging and I could tell she genuinely wanted us to succeed. She used the perfect mixture of handouts and review games to facilitate learning. Shelby's sessions were not only super helpful, but also enjoyable and she had us looking forward to coming to SI each week.”
