One example of how we ensure that our students and faculty are involved in our community is through the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder. This center generates innovative, time-efficient, and cost-effective treatments that work, so that people with ASD can reach their full potential. We pride ourselves in providing unique learning opportunities for our students. Our programs utilize cutting edge technologies to equip our students with tools to be successful in the workforce. Our adaptive TEACH Lab provides an opportunity for our students to learn how to incorporate adaptive and assistive technologies into their teaching practices.

The Department of Special Education offers several scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students.The Inclusive Excellence in Graduate Special Education Scholarship was established to support students from marginalized populations. This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of the Avis Foundation, Inc., a strong supporter of Teachers College, that is committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Inclusive Excellence Scholarship provides financial support to a new or current student in one of the master’s or doctoral degree programs in the Department of Special Education.
