One Ball State Day 2024
Special Education

Your donations will make a difference for the Department of Special Education! We prepare students for careers as

  • special educators and administrators
  • applied behavior analysts
  • deaf educators
  • ASL specialists
  • curriculum developers.

Your donations help us support a variety of the learning experiences for students beyond the academics, including scholarships, involvement in student and community organizations, and research.

We are proud of our students and the quality of our alumni and recruit students to help combat the shortage of teachers in over 70% of the school districts in Indiana.

Your donations support our recruitment efforts, scholarships, and community outreach programs for children and adults with special needs.

One example of how we ensure that our students and faculty are involved in our community is through the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder. This center generates innovative, time-efficient, and cost-effective treatments that work, so that people with ASD can reach their full potential. To give specifically to this effort, choose Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Programs from the links below.

We pride ourselves in providing unique learning opportunities for our students. Our programs utilize cutting edge technologies to equip our students with tools to be successful in the workforce. Our adaptive TEACH Lab provides an opportunity for our students to learn how to incorporate adaptive and assistive technologies into their teaching practices.

This lab and its success are sustained by your generous donations that are used to purchase and maintain adaptive software and hardware. The BlueBee Pals pictured above were purchased with last year's donations. (To give specifically to the TEACH Lab, choose "TEACH lab" in the menu below.)

The Department of Special Education offers several scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. The Inclusive Excellence in Graduate Special Education Scholarship was established to support students from marginalized populations. This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of the Avis Foundation, Inc., a strong supporter of Teachers College, that is committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Inclusive Excellence Scholarship provides financial support to a new or current student in one of the master’s or doctoral degree programs in the Department of Special Education. If you wish for your support to specifically to supporting this scholarship, please choose the last option in the list below.

Any dollars given that are not designated into a specific area go to the general fund for the department. Those funds are used to

  • support student scholarships
  • purchase instructional materials
  • support faculty research through special equipment purchases
  • support faculty professional development.

It is with the help of your generous donations that we are able to continue to deliver the highest quality special education programs to our students in one of the highest-ranked education programs in the state and beyond.

Please select from the menu below where you would like for your gift to benefit our students.
