David Owsley Museum of Art

The David Owsley Museum of Art’s mission is to cultivate lifelong learning and recreation in the visual arts through its collection of original works of art, engaging exhibitions, and educational programs for the university community and other diverse audiences. The museum’s collection of over 11,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of global civilization began with a core group of gifts from the extended Ball family, supplemented by donations from Frank C. Ball’s grandson, David T. Owsley. Since opening in 1936, several generations of engaged alumni and community members have further shaped the museum into a regional treasure that competes with major university collections across the United States.

DOMA is open seven days a week and maintains free admission in order to better serve students and the community. The museum offers access to learning, research opportunities, and ambitious exhibitions within a historic building on the Old Quad in the heart of campus.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

DOMA’s exhibitions and programming are largely funded with contributions from donors like you! Your gift to DOMA’s Friends Fund (702) connects Ball State University students and the Muncie community to exhibitions, programs, and events that are the envy of many larger cities. These include blockbusters like "Mexican Modernity" and "Gorey’s Worlds," Final Friday parties, hundreds of school visits, and the annual Art in Bloom extravaganza.

A contribution to the Friends Fund (702) will enchant and educate new audiences through art. For example, by supporting both locally curated and nationally traveling exhibitions, your gift can help thousands of children and adults gain insights into the artist’s creative process, global contemporary art, and our shared artistic heritage.

Your donation to the Friends Fund (702) at the David Owsley Museum of Art helps shape East Central Indiana’s cultural landscape by expanding the reach of Ball State’s world-class educational museum.
