Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies

The new Department of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies brings together faculty and programs that focus on early childhood education, child development, child life, and family studies. Our vision is to be known for our unmatched expertise, accessibility, and impact through our preparation of outstanding, future professionals and through our service to Indiana families, schools, and communities

We work hard to give our students meaningful and realistic experiences to prepare them to improve the lives of children and families. We have accordingly prioritized our funding to support the following:

1. Support enhanced student training through field trips, workshops, and professional conference participation.

Recently we were able to provide some financial support to enable student to attend The Great Lakes Association of Child Life Professionals (GLACLP) annual conference (photo below) to learn more about promoting the psychosocial care of children, teens, and families facing challenging life and health-related experiences. We hope to help more students receive real-world learning experiences that prepare them to professionally serve children and families.

2. Support recruiting efforts and resources to attract and support diverse, dedicated students, some of whom might otherwise struggle to meet the financial demand of higher education. As a new department, we have limited scholarship offerings but hope to attract and support students who reflect the communities which they will serve.

Please join our efforts to support the lives of children and families in our local community and beyond. Let’s work together to make a difference!

The department will give away one FREE ECYFS logo t-shirt for every $100 that gets donated. That means if you donate at least $100, you get one automatically. Otherwise, every increment of $5 you donate enters your name into a drawing to win a t-shirt (e.g., $10 gives you a 1 in 10 chance of winning, $25 gives you 1 in 4 chance of winning).
