Career Center

The Career Center services and programs focus on our mission to connect all of our partners for the purpose of helping students integrate their education, self-awareness, and experiences to empower a lifetime of career achievement and personal satisfaction.

Your donations go to supporting services like these:

Candid Career Alumni Video Playlists

Candid Career is an online library of thousands of career videos from over 150 Ball State Alumni. For students seeking career guidance, Candid Career videos cover virtually any industry and provide relevant job details and advice to help students choose a career and be successful in it.

Cardinal Closet

Cardinal Closet is a program directed by the Student Action Team where students can come and shop for semi-professional and professional clothing. Cardinal Closet is free for all Ball State students as long as they bring their ID. The Career Center is a drop-off location for donations.

Career Coaching

Students can meet one-on-one with a Career Coach specializing in their major and career concentration. Career Coaches can provide guidance in career exploration, insight on how to develop the key skills employers are seeking in new hires, and serve as a connection point to all of our alumni and industry partners.

 Career Curriculum Consulting

Faculty can receive individualized support embedding career content in their course or program.

Career Ready

Career Ready is a customizable, online career preparedness program housed in Cardinal Career Link. Students work to develop the eight career competencies identi?ed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as necessary for a successful transition into the workplace.

Faculty Externship Program

Full-time Ball State University faculty members participate in a  summer experience with an Indiana business which requires skills representative of those taught by the faculty in their department

Informational Interview Program

Students learn how to network by conducting informational interviews with BSU alumni.

Interactive Workshops

The Career Center provides innovative and interactive workshops on a variety of career topics.

KEY Careers

A deep-dive career experience used during summer orientation and the freshman year that connects the dots between a chosen major and future career goals.

Online Practice Interviews

Interviews on Demand are available 24 hours a day on Cardinal Career Link. Students record their responses to pre-loaded questions, which can be reviewed at a later date with a Career Coach.

Practice Interview Program

Academic courses that participate in the Practice Interview Program receive professional interview training from over 50 corporate volunteers. These volunteers include top executives, hiring managers, and seasoned professionals from all across the state.

Skills Infusion

Full-time Ball State faculty members are invited to apply for a paid training and collaboration experience. The goals are to help students better articulate transferrable skills learned in concert with course content and to provide a gap analysis tool that students can use to reflect on skills not yet practiced or learned.

VMOCK Resume Reviews

We are proud to collaborate with VMock, a career smart platform that utilizes machine learning, predictive analytics, and artificial intelligence to help students optimize their skills. VMock reviews student résumés and instantly provides detailed feedback on how they can improve.
