This year we invite you to celebrate One Ball State Day with a gift to any of our three funds described below.
1) Scholarships -- Alumni Fund for Study Abroad
This fund provides study abroad alumni a way to “pay it forward” for current and future Cardinals Abroad. Gifts to the Alumni Fund for Study Abroad expand access to life-changing experiences through direct-to-student study abroad scholarships. Your contribution supports students, like Kate, as they take advantage of the opportunity to learn and grow outside the classroom. Students on spring or winter break, summer, or semester-long study abroad will benefit from your generous gift to the Alumni Fund. Students can also choose from more than a dozen faculty led study abroad courses, where they have the opportunity to learn from subject matter experts in biology, architecture, economics, theatre, and more! This year nearly 400 BSU students will participate in a study abroad program! Your help can grow that number for years to come.

2) International Student Emergencies -- Katherine Koontz Memorial Fund
Katherine Koontz, a beloved and regular presence at the Ball State International House, opened her heart and home to countless international students. In 1978 a fund was established in her memory which provides vital emergency assistance to international students facing unforeseen financial challenges ensuring they can continue their academic journey.
We invite you to support the Katherine Koontz Memorial Fund as part of One Ball State Day.
Imagine stepping off the plane, a world away from home, ready to embark on an incredible academic adventure. But what happens when the unexpected strikes? A sudden illness, a family crisis, or unforeseen travel complications can derail even the best-laid plans. This fund provides micro-grants of up to $500 to an international student facing a non-tuition financial emergency, allowing them to focus on their studies and continuing making progress towards degree completion.
Your contribution to the Katherine Koontz Memorial Fund carries on her legacy, but also helps international students stay on track academically and continue contributing to our vibrant global community at Ball State.
3) Passport Access -- Study Abroad General Fund
Gifts to the Study Abroad General Fund can support initiatives such as passport access grants, which help remove financial barriers for students eager to study abroad, but lack the $165 needed to apply for a new passport. Travel documents such as passports and visa can be a disqualifying barrier for many students wanting to study abroad. Eligible students can apply for a micro-grant to assist with some of the "start up" costs associated with studying abroad.
Your support makes study abroad possible—from the very first stamp in a student’s passport to the life-changing experiences that follow. Join us this One Ball State Day in opening the world to more Cardinals!
