Who We Are
Established in 1965, Student Voluntary Services (SVS) facilitates community service opportunities for over 4,000 Ball State students each year. These students represent all academic disciplines and majors, with some serving through SVS to complete service-learning requirements for their classes, and others signing up just for fun! Annually, an average of 4500 students participate in 80,000 community service hours across 145 community agencies.

Your Impact
Donations to the Student Voluntary Services fund may be used in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to:
- Supplies for days of service
- Expenses for the annual Alternative Spring Break service trip
- Travel expenses for student leaders to attend conferences
- Professional development opportunities for staff members that support SVS and its student leaders
- Gifts for children in Delaware County who have been removed from their homes during the holidays (this project is done in partnership with the Indiana Department of Child Services)

Examples of Our Ongoing Service Opportunities Include:
Signature Events: Signature Events are typically offered two to three times a semester, sometimes more. Signature events are held in partnership with various agencies in the Delaware County community. They are either located on campus or have transportation provided by Student Voluntary Services.
Coordinated Programs: Coordinated Programs are a 10 to 12 week volunteer commitment that is scheduled for the same day and at the same time each week with local agencies. Transportation using Student Voluntary Services vans is sometimes provided.
Independent Volunteer Programs: Independent Volunteer Programs are a more flexible volunteer opportunity. Volunteers in these programs set up days and times to volunteer with the nonprofit agency they will serve.
One-Time Event Programs: One-Time Event Programs are community service opportunities that begin and end on the same day. Agencies request the students to assist for a specific day, time, and purpose. This program is great for students who want to give back and contribute to the community in a positive way but cannot make a long-term commitment.
Alternative Spring Break Trip: The Alternative Spring Break Trip is a week-long Spring Break volunteer trip hosted by Student Voluntary Services. Students will spend Spring Break traveling to another community with fellow students and helping a nonprofit agency through volunteer projects. This trip changes locations year to year; one year it could be in the mountains, next to the beach. Through this, SVS seeks to show a diverse world of volunteerism and allow students an experience of learning, service, and fun.
