Black Student Association

For 50 years, the Black Student Association has been a paramount student drive for equity at Ball State University. Founded on May 22, 1969, the autonomous student organization fights for campus recognition, dignity, and justice.

BSA strives to help students persevere and advance; BSA honors social and intellectual Black Culture; BSA aims to develop stronger connections and collaborations among Black students and all organizations on campus.

The mission of the Black Student Association is to aid in the growth and development of Ball State collegiate students through a series of culturally, socially, and academically focused discussions and programs from a unique African-American perspective. Our mission is fulfilled through community service, campus involvement, and professional development, allowing our members to overcome challenges faced in all facets of life. BSA aims to develop and promote unity within the minority community and intensity the Black voice here at this university.

How You Can Help:

Your gifts support BSA Scholarships. Awarded monies help students who may not have the means to fully participate on campus. Previously awarded scholarships have aided BSA members to purchase textbooks, graduation gowns, leadership conference registration, supplies for clinicals, and many more invaluable stepping-stones to a college degree.

Scholarship for members of the Black Student Association is selected through an essay competition. Recipients must be active members of the Black Student Association (as defined by the BSA Constitution). Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (accumulative and prior semester).
