Because of Ball State...

Biology students practice science—not just study it.

Experiential learning is embedded throughout the Biology curriculum. Students engage in research, fieldwork, internships, immersive laboratory courses, and community-based learning that develop the skills, confidence, and professional identity required for careers in health professions, biotechnology, conservation, education, and research.

Hands-on learning is not an add-on. It is the expectation.

Because of Ball State...

Opportunity is built into the curriculum.

Every Biology major participates in authentic scientific inquiry. Students design experiments, analyze real data, conduct field studies, and collaborate closely with faculty mentors. Many go on to present at professional conferences, contribute to research publications, or complete internships and practicums that connect classroom learning to real-world application.

These high-impact experiences are central to student persistence, engagement, and post-graduate success.

Because of Ball State...

Learning extends beyond the classroom.

Biology students conduct research in local ecosystems and field stations. They engage in applied learning through internships and community partnerships. They explore global ecosystems through study-away programs focused on conservation and sustainability.

These opportunities transform understanding into experience—and experience into preparation.

Because of Ball State...

Opportunity becomes accessible.

Research supplies, field equipment, conference travel, certifications, and immersive experiences require financial support.

While many Biology initiatives are supported by external grants, donor support plays a critical role in expanding access—ensuring that students from all backgrounds can participate fully in the hands-on learning that defines a Ball State Biology education.

Because of Ball State donors, opportunity becomes accessible.

Because of Ball State and Because of You...
