Your gift to the college of health general fund makes a difference in the lives of our students. This fund supports over 3,600 students enrolled in majors within the College, as well as, another 4,000+ students taking service courses within our academic areas. This has been a challenging year in the midst of a pandemic, but we are not slowing down. Our faculty, staff and students are making big things happen.
Year to year many things can change in the world of academia, but we are always going to support our students in their achievements. When we couldn’t host our annual Dean’s List Celebration, we congratulated our students with a compilation video, and certificate. We had nearly a thousand students achieve a 3.5 GPA last academic year.
We are so proud of our students who consistently show they are thoughtful, courageous and caring. 83 college of health majors stepped up to be trained by faculty mentors to serve as Cardinal Health Navigators for quarantined students residing on BSU campus. As peer health mentors under the guidance of their faculty liaisons, they provided support to quarantined students by communicating with them virtually via Zoom or WebEx 2-3 times a week.
The College of Health and our students are dedicated to making a difference and impacting our community. Our Interprofessional Community Clinic, had to shut down in-person visits, which was not only detrimental to student practitioners who needed clinical hours, but also to the patients they serve. The College partnered with the Northeast Indiana Health Education Center was able to get telehealth services up and running in the clinic. This program allowed students to receive clinical hours and has allowed the clinics to reach underserved and rural regions throughout Indiana. Your gift to Interprofessional Community Clinic, keeps programs like this running to provide opportinities for students to impact their communities.
The marketplace has a significant need for skilled and adaptable professionals who are clinically knowledgeable, adept at critical thinking and problem solving, and devoted to lifelong learning. Our students are all of these things, and our generous donors are key partners in ensuring students continue to have impactful experiences both in and out of the classroom, which creates dynamic health professionals ready to hit the ground running. Together, we fly.
