Join Applied Anthropology Laboratories and American Legion Post #19 to create a multifaceted, public educational program for all ages based in archaeology and history on the heart of Downtown Muncie and the creation of Delaware County.
This is the former site of Goldsmith Gilbert’s cabin, where in 1827 Delaware County was formally created and the current site of the American Legion Post #19, who celebrated their centennial July 2019. This project includes multiple tangible products, which benefit our community for multiple years.
Tangible deliverables include an archaeological survey, final report, website with multiple types of informational updates (video, photos, written, etc.), three packages of digital educational materials, which meet Indiana Academic Standards for Social Studies grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
