Office of Student Life

The Office of Student Life (OSL) creates an extraordinary, transformative experience that promotes the leadership, personal and social success of Ball State students. Through the coordination of Excellence in Leadership, developing community service opportunities and supporting over 400 student organizations we engage our students to enhance a variety of career-oriented and leadership-based skills and competencies that benefit them as they look to step into new leadership positions, apply to internships and jobs, and much more!

Supporting our students comes in many forms. We often look to expand the programs and services offered to students. And other times our students need a little extra help to earn their degree through scholarships. You can be the difference in someone's life.

Why we need your support:

Your gifts enrich the student experience by improving the resources we offer. OSL dedicated to helping students succeed through high-impact practices and innovative co-curricular activities.

How you can help:

Contributing to a foundation fund is one way to help the Office of Student Life.

Greatest Needs – Student Life Programs Unrestricted Fund:

Giving to our greatest needs enhances the student experience by supporting training and development series including Student Engagement And Leadership Series for Student Organization Leaders and Advisor Resource Training for faculty/staff advisors to student organizations.  Your gift helps us plan programs, including leadership conferences, presidents' retreats, CliftonStrengths workshops, staff development, and serve our greatest needs as they arise based on the University's mission and strategic plan.

Dr. Kay Bales Excellence In Leadership Fund:

This fund supports essential components of the nationally recognized leadership development program that has been offered to all students at Ball State for over 20 years. Annually thought and business leaders from around the country visit campus as part of the EIL Speaker Series and this fund supports our ability to sponsor these campus guests on campus and to ensure students have the opportunity to spend time with these leaders not only at the large events but also in small groups in partnership with academic partners and other campus stakeholders.

Leadership and Service Fund:

This fund supports the Leadership Studies Academic Minor along with travel assistance for alterative break trips during the fall and spring break periods.

Undergraduate Student Leadership Scholarship:

This scholarship rewards students who show skills in motivating others in and out of the classroom. Students who have served in student leadership roles in student organizations, fraternities, sororities, mentorship programs, sports clubs, intramural teams, and a number of co-curricular programs are eligible to apply. Students who have received this scholarship have demonstrated their ability to lead a team of peers and accomplish and/or contribute to short/long term goals of an organization or program that contributes to the student experience on Ball State University's campus.
